Life's Punches
Another one of life's trials
like always unexpected
came walking down my road
Sized me up
knocked me down
like an eager young boxer
punching my beliefs to the ground
Completely numbed
I find myself left with nothing
No anger or resentment
no fears
even the pain has gone
as are all my tears
and maybe just as well
For life's undertow
takes without rhyme or reason
never clear
was I right or wrong
or just fair game in open season
and maybe feeling nothing
can help cope

I think you have portrayed how the pains of life are truly, well, pains of life. The punch metaphor is on the mark. And to get to the point where it does not even hurt anymore? One can feel your frustration and being fed up and just have hands in the air already.

numb is indeed a protective mechanism... i lived in a state of numb for much of the past year ... and then one day it began to lift... and still ,, little by little i feel it like dissipating fog i don't know that i could have made it without the numbness.. maybe it is just what you need....

probably, you will never know, by delivering the pain in words sprouting straight from the heart how much you help people to feel and find what they wanted to say but don't know how to and where to.

Fenny, This is so true! You never see it coming, and it nearly bowls you over. We just have to keep getting up and fighting back. Nice metaphor for the knocks we take in life.
Thanks for reading my Hitler post. It's interesting to have had that similar experience. Unforgettable.
