Horse Band
thunder hooves pounding
in the hours before dawn
steamy nostrils snort
running like the wind
a proud stallion leading them
rugged backs are damp
a band in gallop
untamed souls born to range free
tangled manes fly wild
beauty in motion
surviving harsh plains and man
wiry tails held high

Hi Fenny!
I like this poem for a particular reason; the very first poem I remember writing when I was very young, was about horses. I expect I must have just read a children's version of Black Beauty or something. I still have the poem and I may just have to post it now that you've jogged my memory.
Of course, since it was a childish poem, it's not nearly as good as this.
