for the slim times we choose to cook

for our convenience

standby nuke

 

Standby TVs

for the eventuality that something

we might want to see is shown

Standby DVD players

for the handful of times

we movie at home

Standby radios

to listen to some late night show

for our convenience

standby grows

 

Standby fax machines

for everything that requires great speed

Standby copiers

to duplicate anything we might need

Standby PCs

the whole world on our desktop

for environmental reasons

This was a great read, very original.

I especially like your last line summing up, "stand-by stop".

We really do have a lot of gadgets and machines at our disposal don't we? I'm thinking that a week without any of them might be a good idea, now and then. I guess that's why camping continues to be so popular, as long as you leave the 'toys' at home, right!!! :

The best way of saying it I've heard in long time. A lot of people would have consciously or unconsciously turned it into a moralistic rhyme, but you kept the flavour alive while knowing where to draw the line... that's difficult (I'm suddenly finding writing anything is difficult?!!?)
