A Day So Unkind
Just an ordinary morning
breakfast
kiss
and off to school
One last wave before the bend
and gone
her long hair flapping in the wind
A day like everyday
chores
groceries
and preparing dinner
She's late
where could she be
another worried peer along the street
Calling everyone
nothing
nowhere
no one knows for sure
Growing feelings of unease
with every hour climbing
finally calling the police
Lost without a trace
last seen going home
missing ever since
it's been more than a week
Forever etched in my mind
her last wave before the bend
on a day so unkind
