Daybreak
In the early hours of the day
I think of you who wandered off
to foreign shores and other arms
and wonder how you’ve been
Draped in a blanket
against the morning cold
I stare at the waves
collapsing on the beach
and watch another day begin
A gull cries harsh and loud
for no apparent reason
it seems
but I don’t know his mind either

well put, the longing of another person, the loneliness of missing them, you lay it all out

A longing most of us who've had our hearts broken can relate to. The final line, "but I don’t know his mind either," says it all!

//A gull cries harsh and loud
for no apparent reason
it seems
